Over240000patientsweremonitoredforamedianoffourseasonsfortotalfollow-upofover400000person-years.Vaccinecoverageduringthestudyseasonsrangedfrom24%to36%.Duringfollow-up,over8000individualsdiedofallcauses,4100patientsdiedofcardiovascularcauses,andover1400patientsdiedofacuteMIorstroke.

Afteradjustmentforconfounders,vaccinationwassignificantlyassociatedwithreducedrisksofallcausedeath,hazardratioof0.83,that'sa17%decreaseinallcausedeath.ThePvalueherewaslessthan0.001,soverysignificant.Decreasedcardiovasculardeathby16%,alsosignificant.DeathfromacuteMIorstroke,adecreaseof15%withaPvalueof0.028,aswellasareducedriskofbeingadmittedtothehospitalwithacutecomplicationsassociatedwithdiabetessuchasdiabeticketoacidosis,hypoglycemia,thatwas11%decreaseandaPvalueof0.006.Soallverysignificant.

进行混杂因素调整后发现，接种疫苗与全因死亡的风险显著相关，风险比为0.83，即全因死亡降低了17%，P<0.001，差异具有显著统计学意义；心血管死亡风险降低16%，同样具有显著差异；急性心肌梗死或卒中所致死亡减少15%，P=0.028；糖尿病急性并发症（如糖尿病酮症酸中毒、低血糖症）导致的入院风险降低11%，P=0.006。
